What is DECA? In the 2008-09 school year, Harper Creek has seventeen members. Thirteen members attended the district competition, while three members qualified for state.Michigan DECA is an association of students who are planning careers in marketing, management and entrepreneurship. Michigan DECA has more than 7,542 members in five divisions: high school (secondary), Delta Epsilon Chi (post secondary), collegiate, professional and alumni. At the secondary level, more than 165 high school and area career centers have DECA chapters. The goals of DECA are to promote leadership development, civic consciousness, social intelligence and vocational understanding. Throughout the year, high school members are offered the opportunity to participate in many conferences that focus on DECA's four main goals: Vocational Understanding, Leadership Development, Civic Consciousness, and Social Intelligence. This year, members will have the opportunity to attend The Central Region Leadership Conference in Kansas City,Missouri, the New York City Marketing Conference, District Competitions, the State Career Development Conference, and the International Career Development Conference in various cities across the United States.
